Structure
Every great work requires scaffolding — the discipline, the training, the years of study that hold the structure in place while it takes form. The conservatory, the lineage, the rigor of the German tradition.
Freedom
And then the scaffolding must fall. What remains is the performance itself — unmediated, alive. The stage, the audience, the moment when preparation gives way to music.
